The Day the Wall Opens: Yajuj Majuj Pour Forth (Gog and Magog) — Part 14 #Shorts

The iron barrier cracks and an uncountable multitude pours out like a flood. No army can stand against them — and pride marks their highest hour.

There is a day the builder himself foretold. When the work was done, Dhul-Qarnayn said the barrier was a mercy from his Lord, and that when the promise of his Lord comes, He will make it crumble. Part 14 is about that day — the day the wall opens and Yajuj Majuj, known in English as Gog and Magog, pour forth.

Rushing Down From Every Height

The Qur'an speaks of it in Surah Al-Anbiya with words that need no extra decoration: until, when Yajuj and Majuj are let loose, they rush down from every elevation.

Every elevation. Not through one gate like an army. They come over the whole face of the land, like water finding every slope at once. In the scene, the iron barrier cracks with a sound like a mountain sighing. A seam of light splits it from top to base. The two halves grind apart. Through dust and light pour an uncountable multitude — men and women, an ocean of humanity with bows and shields and banners of no nation we know — flooding down the valley like a river bursting its dam, and spreading over the hills in every direction.

The Lake Drunk Dry

The Prophet, peace be upon him, filled in the picture in the great narration recorded in Sahih Muslim. It is a picture of a world overwhelmed.

They will pour forth, he said. The first of them will pass Lake Tiberias and drink, and drink. They will keep drinking until their last ranks pass a dry shore and say: there was once water here.

They will sweep across the earth. And no one, the narration says, will be able to stand against them.

The Siege on the Mountain

The believers of that time, led by Jesus — Isa, peace be upon him — will withdraw to the mountain of Tur. There they will be besieged. Hunger will press them so hard that the head of an ox will be dearer to them than a fortune in gold.

Sit with the scale of what the tradition describes. This is not a battle scene from a film, where a hero turns the tide at the final hour. The tradition gives humanity no military answer at all. The strongest force the earth has ever contained comes out from behind the wall. Every strength the earth can gather is not enough.

Pride at the Highest Point

Then, at the summit of their triumph, the narration shows their ancient flaw — the same pride that once kept them digging without the words if God wills.

Full of victory, they will turn their faces to the heavens themselves. They will loose their arrows at the sky, as if to say: we have conquered the people of the earth, now let us conquer the people of heaven. Their arrows will fall back to them stained with blood. And they will cry out in their delusion: we have defeated them all.

It is the highest moment of their power in all of time. And the tradition says, it is also the last.
