Are Yajuj Majuj Monsters or Humans? (Gog and Magog) — Part 5 #Shorts

Films and posts show giant monsters. The main sources show something else. Part 5 explains why Yajuj and Majuj are described as humans.

Close your eyes and picture Yajuj and Majuj. Many people see giant monsters, with strange faces and terrifying powers. Part 5 asks a simple question. Is that picture true?

Where the Monster Picture Comes From

That picture comes from dramatic stories, films and social media posts. In the main religious sources, however, the description is different.

Human Peoples

Yajuj and Majuj, known in English as Gog and Magog, are presented as human peoples. They are descendants of Adam. They live in large communities. They speak, work, travel and increase in number like other nations.

Their danger is not described as magic or monstrous strength. It is described as corruption, violence and overwhelming numbers spreading across the land.

What the Quran Says

In the Quran, they are mentioned in Surah Al-Kahf, in the story of Dhul-Qarnayn. He built a strong barrier of iron and copper between two mountains. It was built to protect a local people from their harm.

The Quran also mentions them in Surah Al-Anbiya. There, their release is linked to the period near the end of time.

What Scholars and Reports Say

Classical Muslim scholars generally treated Yajuj and Majuj as real human tribes confined behind that barrier. They did not treat them as animals, spirits or fictional creatures.

Reports in hadith literature also describe ordinary human needs and habits. They eat, drink, sleep, marry and have children. At the same time, the reports stress their huge population.

Why Some Accounts Sound So Unusual

Over centuries, travellers' tales, folklore and later illustrations added exaggerated features. Different traditions also identified Gog and Magog with different historical peoples of the north and east.

Those identifications remain debated. Scholars advise care. The core sources emphasise their humanity and moral danger more than a detailed physical portrait.

So the answer, according to the traditional sources, is clear. Yajuj and Majuj are humans — numerous, powerful tribes — rather than monsters. This is Daily Info Dose, Part 5.
